Information Security is often viewed as a lifecycle.
Until recently, the lifecycle only included reactive
components such as:
- Firewalls which block unauthorized access to networks.
- Intrusion Detection systems which detect possible
traffic that might be an attack, and request countermeasures
from Network Administrators.
- Forensic investigation which determines the extent
of the attack, how it was performed, finds evidence
of perpetrators, and puts countermeasures in place
for future attacks.
Although these parts of the lifecycle are beneficial,
they do not prevent attacks from occurring.
Network Security Assessments are a proactive solution
that ascertain whether malicious attackers can affect
the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of
your strategic information. Network Security Assessments
identify vulnerabilities in your network before hackers
do, allowing you to correct the problems before they
are exploited.
